We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Data Center Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our data center facility, ensuring its smooth functioning, and implementing best practices for efficient performance. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support our clients’ infrastructure requirements and deliver exceptional service. In addition to the maintenance and day-to-day operations, the Data Center Engineer will also play a crucial role in infrastructure upgrades and construction build-outs of new data centers. You will collaborate with project teams to plan, design, and implement data center expansions and enhancements, ensuring scalability, reliability, and adherence to industry standards. Your expertise in data center infrastructure will be instrumental in driving the successful execution of these projects, optimizing performance, and supporting the organization’s growth initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the overall operation of the data center facility, ensuring uptime, reliability, and adherence to industry standards.
- Perform routine equipment checks, inspections, and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance of data center infrastructure, including servers, network devices, power distribution units (PDUs), and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring seamless operations.
- Monitor and analyze data center systems and networks using appropriate tools and technologies to identify and address potential bottlenecks or performance issues.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans to mitigate risks and ensure data center resilience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists, to provide support and maintain alignment with organizational objectives.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to data center infrastructure, including power and cooling systems, cabling, and network architecture, to optimize performance and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate documentation of data center processes, procedures, and configurations, ensuring they are up to date and accessible to the team.
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices related to data center operations, and make recommendations for their adoption when appropriate.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for automation, process optimization, and cost reduction in data center operations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Information Technology or a related discipline preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in a NOC technician, systems administration, data center, or related technical position required.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and networking; basic knowledge of Linux/Unix/MacOS preferred.
- Experience with server and/or networking installations, implementations, and/or deployments required.
- Knowledge of G Suite/Google Workspace preferred.
- Basic knowledge of Avaya PBX preferred.
- Ability to lift/move objects up to 60+ pounds required.
- Experience with data center facilities management, including power and cooling, preferred.
- Scripting and/or automation experience is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Autocad or Microsoft Visio is highly preferred.
